Today “people have all this beautiful furniture that they paid a lot of money for, and yet they ignore the biggest component of their entire space and paint all the walls white. White is clinically the most depressing color. When you look at white, you see grey,” says local artist-painter, Esmé, who laments the missed opportunities in many homes.

décor is to mix and match
paints in vibrant, bright

colors like cinnamon red and woodland green or to choose earthy tones to bring nature indoors. Beyond the basic paint choices of color and sheen, lies a whole world of texture using special decorative painting techniques. The simplest techniques like ragging and sponging can lend depth to walls and can be applied by almost everyone. More complex techniques, called faux finishes, are best applied by an experienced artist-painter.
